Farm Credit supports rural agricultural communities with financing to build their businesses. This focus on agriculture and rural America is the reason Farm Credit was established nearly 100 years ago. They help fund America’s food, fuel and fiber and support the thriving rural communities America’s farmers call home. As this is their 100th year, they had an extra special convention. This included speakers talking about where agriculture is going in the coming years. Breakout groups were also included to help learn from the attendees and learn from smaller groups.
To loosen up after a long day of meetings, they held a networking cocktail party that included a photo booth and an appetizing offering of hors d’oeuvres. The Omni Interlocken Hotel in Broomfield hosted the event and really went above and beyond to make this group feel special.
In addition to the “work”, The Farm Credit team got to check out a few of the businesses that they support. One of the stops was Oskar Blues’ hop farm. Oskar Blues is a craft brewery that was founded in Colorado. They have many places they get their hops from, but they have a specialty farm where they grow their own hops to test and develop new beer flavors. After the tour of the beautiful landscape, they were taken to the brewery where everyone had lunch and a tour of the brewery itself.
Another great tour was of Dirtless farms; and yes, it is what it sounds like! It is a greenhouse that grows all of its plants hydroponically. They supply many great restaurants around Denver with high quality produce and herbs. They are also known for employing veterans that are having a hard time finding work. Their team was very knowledgeable and was so happy to share what they knew with the group.
The attendees of this great event must have been worn out by the end. They packed so many activities into the three day. What an unforgettable convention!
