PLA 2016
Wow! What a conference! So many great speakers. Tig Notaro, Ariana Huffington, Verna Myers, and Anderson Cooper. Public libraries are so important to our culture, getting the members of the association together for this event is paramount to the success of the library system.

Those who attend are librarians, support staff, library vendors and more. The conference features educational classes, networking receptions, social events, author luncheons and a packed full convention hall. PLA’s core purpose is to strengthen public libraries and their contribution to the communities they serve, and its mission is to enhance the development and effectiveness of public library staff and public library services.

Ariana Huffington, Tig Notaro, Anderson Cooper and more great names were present to energize the attendees. In addition to being well know in the US, they are all accomplished writers with amazing stories to tell. Anderson Cooper’s most recent book, The Rainbow Comes and Goes shares letters that he exchanged with his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt. His inspiring story was turned into a conversation on stage at the PLA conference.
On the convention hall floor you will find products and services that support the public library system. Including book retailers, demos, displays and more. This is a great place for attendees to network, explore and equip themselves with new ideas and connections to bring back to their local libraries.
Attached to Colorado Convention Center is the Bellco Theater. PLA hosted their full conference talks in this space. Attendance was high and the response to the speakers was great. Photographing a conference with a full room makes my job more fun.
