What’s up!? Hey! Im Laura, Im an event and headshot photographer. I recently relocated to Salt Lake City and I’m really excited to be back. I grew up in Salt Lake, but the past 15 years I have lived in Las Vegas, went to photography school in Massachussets and started my family in Denver. We are back in SLC and are loving but still miss parts of Denver.
I learned to work a very young age, really I’m not even sure I learned it, it is in my blood. I love to work, and often times need a bit of a reminder to switch gears. My first job was working at my grandpa’s upholstery shop, I saved all of my money to buy film and have it developed. I would walk up to the drug store to drop it off and wait the few days that it took to be developed. I would then proceed to tape them to my bedroom wall like wallpaper (much to my father’s dismay, tape on the wall is punishable by death.) There was a person in pretty much every photo, landscapes weren’t my thing. Turns out, not much has changed.
In High school you would likely find me in the dark room. In college I really found my niche is working with business people, helping people grow and feel great about the image they are putting out into the world.
Getting the right moment or expression is what drives me. I love to take a headshot where the people who know the person best go…wow, you look great! In event photography catching that moment where the speaker on stage is engaging can make you feel like you were there.
Outside of work, I am most happy when I am on a boat, on a snowboard or with my family. (or any combination). I love DIY projects, in fact we just bought a house and are jumping in head first into a kitchen remodel.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know a bit about me! I would love to learn something about you. Drop a fun fact in the comments!
